Street art has become an increasingly well-known medium to spread awareness about political and human rights issues. *LiNK respects street art as an artistic medium but please do not vandalize property.

• Wheat pasting is gluing artwork to a surface using a mixture of water, wheat flour and sugar. If applied correctly, a poster, painting or stencil can become permanent without buffing. Learn more about wheat pasting here.
• Stenciling involves cutting out a design from a solid piece of paper, wood or cardboard. Spray paint or paint in the removed space to leave a pattern on wood, concrete, t-shirts, and more. Learn more about stenciling here.
• Check out environmentally-friendly alternatives to traditional street art such as moss stenciling, reverse graffiti and light graffiti.

Hosting an art show is a great way to spread awareness through visual expression.

• Find an art gallery: Believe it or not, galleries aren’t too difficult to rent. Most plan art shows months ahead, so reserve one far ahead. Some will offer discounts for fundraisers for non-profits.
• Find artists: Look in local art schools, coffee shops and craigslist in the "artists" section. Publicize by fliering and posting online, and be sure your show has a theme. Artists will be happy to donate their work or donate a portion of sales if you tell them it’s for a non-profit.
• Tell the press: Write up a creative and inspiring press release and send it to local newspapers, TV and radio stations, and blogs. Press love to see their city's population come out to support a good cause. Also seek out all of your city's online calendars for online publications.
• Set a time: A fun event usually involves live music or a DJ, snacks such as wine and cheese, and a Chinese auction to sell the artwork.
