Awareness (The Movement)

North Korea is one of the world's most tragic humanitarian disasters today - yet it is also the least known. For over 50 years, whole villages have starved, lacking basic necessities to survive. Parents continue to escape across the border to China to find food, work and better opportunities. Mothers and sisters who intended to return are ravaged by the demands of sex trafficking, leaving children to fend for themselves. For refugees in China who have managed to evade being captured, they are left with little choice but to stay hidden in underground shelters, fearing repatriation to North Korea's prison camps - notorious for raping, torturing or working its victims to death.

LiNK's Response

The North Korea crisis deserves a greater response, which we believe will not occur until these stories are told. We host national awareness tours that use film, stories of refugees and creative media to educate communities of the North Korea crisis, and provide opportunities to change the lives of North Koreans through our local Chapters that continue building awareness, advocacy and funds for our programs and rescue operations. We also use social networking platforms to build our network of supporters.

What You Can Do

Nothing is stronger than a collective voice. Join 180 chapters around the world by starting one in your community.

Every spring, summer and fall, LiNK sends out representatives to travel across North America spreading awareness about the crisis and building a movement of young activists to speak out against the atrocities. Bring a team to your community or sign up to travel the road for us.

Use your voice to help the children. We are currently supporting a bill in both the Senate and House that will provide an opportunity for eligible stateless and orphaned children to be adopted by wanting families in the US.
